Dilapidated Drives v1 by r3dlink13 Dilapidated Drives v1 by r3dlink13
Today I reconnected an old hard drive that contained time machine backups for an old install. I decided to make an aged version of the Time Machine drive icon so it could still be easily identified as time machine, but also remain easily distinguishable from the current disk. While I was at it, I made a companion icon for the second partition on the disk.

So far I've only made these two. If there's enough interest I'll make a few more, so comment below and let me know what you think!

Includes PNGs and ICNS, at 1024x1024px

I very much appreciate your creativity and artistic skill in this project. It is not so easy to make things look weathered and beat, and be believable. This is excellent work and I hope you have the time and energy to continue further along with a set. It is a big undertaking to create a cohesive look, while being creative with each device, folder or App Icon, especially when working with 1024 and the added Layers.

I, for one, intend to put these to use on my Desktop. My Main Macintosh Drive Icon has Red Vines crawling over it, so it is in the same theme. Alas, it is only 256, and I lack the time to redo it.

All the best, Matthew

Thank you so much for your support! I know this was several months ago but I'll have you know that I've kept your comment as new in my inbox so it's there for inspiration each time I log in.

I was really pleased with the way these two turned out and I do have an interest in doing more. But as you stated, it takes some time, careful thought and creative thinking to create these around existing, rasterized icons, let alone to make each unique enough. I simply have not had the time or focus lately.

But I've got some new ideas so, hopefully, soon I'll be able to introduce a few more...

You are most welcome. It does't matter to me at all how long it takes to reply. When time is short, it is often best to focus on the work the most inspires you, rather than anything you might feel obligated to do, others want you do, or expect you to do. Just a thought…
